So today I got a new mug. I didn't buy it for the purpose of adding another to my collection. In fact, I don't really ever buy mugs just for the sake of furthering my collection. But as I was driving home I started thinking about all my mugs and how my collection grew, so I decided to dedicate my next post to explaining why my blog is titled "Reflections from a Coffee Mug".
When deciding what to title my blog I was hit with a bad case of creative block. I had complete creative freedom and although I usually LOVE that, I did not that night. My blog doesn't really have a theme, only that I write about things I love and that bring me happiness in hopes that they do the same to you! So that created even an even greater freedom for a title choice. And then my mom mentioned my collection of coffee mugs, and that idea sat on my mind for a good while.
After awhile I realized that it had everything I wanted in a title. It was funny with the irony that I don't actually drink coffee, honest because I do have a collection, happy because of all the memories attached to them, and similar to me in that they sit around serving as third party observers, which is like me because I love reflecting on things I see!
Also something my old youth minister had said to me a few weeks ago, had just stuck with me lately. We were talking about bonding nights with roommates and she said: "When I was in college we used to leave a note on the door that said 'Friends at 8. Bring your mug!". When she said that, I started thinking about all the fun moments I have had snuggled up with a cozy blanket, a good book or movie, and a warm coffee mug (filled with hot chocolate of course :). And those have been some really beautiful moments in my life, simply because they were effortlessly wonderful.
So! My blog title was born. I was so excited! So excited to share my reasoning behind the name, the good times I have had using mugs, and the specific ones I have collected over the years!
In the near future I will post pictures of all my mugs and share some fun stories about them! But until then, try thinking about the last time you sat with friends, wrapped yourselves up in blankets, and reminisced with a coffee mug in your hand. Or the last time you went and sat outside, looked at a beautiful view, and just simply reflected on your life with a coffee mug in hand. If its been awhile (or even if it was just yesterday) I encourage you to grab some friends or just a blanket, fill up your coffee mug and reminisce and reflect on your life and the things that bring you peace and happiness. Everyone needs moments like that.

P.S. I LOVE these movie set designs
Two of my my favorite things are movies and design. So looking at movie set designs makes me as happy as baker looking through a brand new cake recipe book. Also, I am constantly brainstorming what I want my future living places to look like. Here are some of my absolute favorites:
Because I Said So
I love the "lived in" feel of this space
I loveeee the exposed brick!!
Probably one of the coolest apartment kitchens I have ever seen.
I love the chalkboard fridge, the storage on the back wall, and the lockers (so fun!)
These photos are from the Bandelle blog and I am obsessed with them!!!
Failure to Launch
P.S. I Love You
This is one of my favorite apartments. Even though it is clearly small, it has SO much personality!
It's Complicated
GORGEOUS kitchen!
I eventually want a home that looks like this
I know this is really random, but I love the floors!
Comfy and Classy :)
The Holiday

The lamps in the kitchen are SO creative! Love it!
(England home)
This room is so plain and simple, but it is so beautiful and elegant at the same time! I love the bed frame!

The simple joy of Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving: a national holiday celebrated as a day of feasting and giving thanks for divine favors or goodness, observed on the fourth Thursday of November in the U.S.
This definition is as completely true today as it was when the holiday first began. In my opinion, this cannot not be said for most other holidays. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE holidays. But Christmas, and even Easter, have become more about giving presents than what the actual holiday was originally celebrated for. The only present people give on thanksgiving is the present of being with family and friends. Whether its playing football, running in the Turkey Trot, or watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade together (followed shortly by the ever so entertaining annual dog show), its a tradition and that brings loved ones together.
Now obviously, the main event of the day is the big thanksgiving feast. Because, lets be honest, food is the best way to bring people together(....duh, I mean who doesn't love food?) But no matter what is on the plate, people are eating together. They're sharing stories, laughing at funny moments, recalling good memories, and enjoying each others company. That's what Thanksgiving is all about. Because its the simple happy moments shared with family and friends that are some of the best times of our lives. And honestly, I don't know what I could ever be more thankful for.
